UPMin and StartUp Village sign MOU to reinvigorate the Philippine economy through PROJECT MATCH

Davao City, Philippines – UP Mindanao Growing and Developing Enterprises – Technology Business Incubator (UPGRADE-TBI) officially signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Startup Village. The signing ceremony was held last December 7, 2021 via Zoom.

UPGRADE is the new partner incubator for Project Match.

Project Match is a marketplace and resource platform. They assist in the digitization of MSMEs by linking them to startups that provide the much-needed digital solutions and technology. The collaboration with Project Match itemizes six (6) objectives:

  1. To connect MSMEs and startups.
  2. To level up MSMEs.
  3. To increase revenue and reduce cost of MSMEs with the use of digital tools.
  4. To generate traction / sales and data for startups.
  5. To educate and level-up  knowledge of entrepreneurs on finance.
  6. To provide access to financial resources.

This partnership facilitated by DTI Region 11, intends to harmonize startups and MSMEs in Davao Region through UPGRADE and StartUp Village synergy. It is through this effort that we hope to reinvigorate the Philippine economy suffering a decline due to the pandemic.

The UPGRADE – TBI team anticipates that the initiatives and activities through this collaboration with Startup Village will gain active support and participation from stakeholders in the government, private sector, academe and other organizations. It is expected to carry major impact, both short term and long-term, contributing to exponential growth in the MSME and Startup sectors. More importantly, we can help prepare our local entrepreneurs and innovators for global competitiveness.
